This journal is one of my favorites! I have used a handmade Nepalese Lokta paper to dress the book boards and I think that it gives a unique organic look to the journal. Nepalese handmade lokta paper is made from the fibrous inner bark of high elevation evergreen shrubs primarily from two species of Daphne (plant) , known as lokta bushes. Historically the handcrafting of lokta paper occurred in the rural areas of Nepal. Today it is produced only in Kathmandu Valley and Janakpur. Lokta paper is unique not only for its durability and resistance to tearing, but mostly for its organic natural look. The artisants add to the paper various elements from plants or minerals, so each piece is one of its kind!
The spine of the book is a very soft PL leather, in sable brown that compliments the fibers of the Lokta paper. It's size is 25 x 16.5 (6 7/16 x 9 13/16) and has 232 pages ( counting both sides) of a high-quality paper of 170gsm, with a classic felt-marked texture which gives a luxurious feel and complements the Lokta covers. It is bound using strong 3-ply Crawford's Irish linen thread.
It is a perfect journal for a field trip, a road trip, a Paris vacation, a trip to Africa or a journey to your soul. It is also a great gift . It can be used as a memoir, a diary, a photo album, or a special heirloom journal where you will tell the story of your life for the generations to come. It is a unique and special book.
