When I started to use wet media in my journals, I was disappointed by many watercolor pads. The paper was not strong enough, or could not absorb watercolors adequately or the paint would lose its vibrancy when dry. The good watercolor papers were really expensive and I was afraid to experiment and "waste" them. I researched the market, for many years, until I found the perfect paper. It is strong, accepts watercolors and other wet media perfectly and it is really good in all my mixed media experiments both wet and dry. The last few years, it is the only paper I use.

It is made by Fabriano, an Italian paper manufacturer that produces quality paper since 1264. It is a strong 300 gsm (140lb) cold pressed mixed media paper. It is designed specifically for wet media such as watercolor, gouache, acrylics and ink. It has neutral PH and it is also acid free and chlorine free.

Their size is perfect to be constantly carried in a bag, and big enough to accommodate your vision.

The journals are bound using the coptic stitch-a bookbinding method, developed by early Christians in Egypt, the Copts, and used from as early as the 2nd century AD to the 11th century. The spine of each journal is left uncovered, in order to permit it to open even 360 degrees. Of course they open flat, and they will be the joy of any watercolor artist, art journaler, mixed media artist or painter.

It is a perfect gift for watercolor artists, mixed media artists, writers and people who need a good quality journal. It can be used as a sketchbook, an art journal, a notebook, a diary, or for every occasion a special book is needed.
