One of my most treasured possessions is my grandma's cookbook. She compiled it at the end of her life, as a reminder to her daughters, of all these gorgeous dishes she always made. She has included recipes from her own mother, favorite dishes of her husband's family and traditional Christmas and Easter dishes. When I open this gorgeous book and see her neat handwriting, my mind goes back to all these happy days that our family was gathered around a Sunday table. Me and my cousins playing and trying to guess from the smell what the dishes were, the adults discussing and drinking their wine and grandma the queen of us all, happy that she had all her family around her. She was a gorgeous cook and I am happy to reproduce a recipe with my daughter, knowing that this was also the favorite dish of my great grand father. And in my turn, I offered my mother in law a handmade cookbook, as I want my daughter to have her legacy from her grandma.
